Groundbreaking on New Summerfield Emergency Room

Good news for residents living in the Summerfield area. If you are in need of emergency services, your travel time will soon be cut in half.

Ocala Health, the parent company of Ocala Regional Medical Center and West Marion Community Hospital, has announced it will open a stand-alone emergency room. Wednesday, March 16, a ground breaking ceremony was held to mark the location of the new ER in Summerfield. Strive! Rehabilitation, a proud provider of rehabilitation services for their hospitals since 1997, is very excited about what Ocala Health brings to our community.

According to company news release, Ocala Health will build the nearly $10 million facility on a three-acre site on U.S. 441. The 10,500-square-foot, one-story facility will employ an estimated 40 full-time healthcare workers. Ocala Health predicts the new ER will serve more than 15,000 patients annually. In the release, Randy McVay, Ocala Health CEO, stated “We continually monitor development in Marion County, and our hospitals are seeing an increased number of traffic from the Summerfield area. This new facility allows us to deliver care more closely to where our patients and their families live.”
