Who We Are

In 1984, The Physical Therapy Center was founded by Rick Shutes, PT, President and original CEO of the corporation. From a one-room physical therapy practice, we have grown to a comprehensive rehabilitation company specializing in the treatment of orthopedic, sports, hand, and industrial injuries.

In 1997, we changed our name to Strive! and since that time we have continued growing. We currently have offices in Ocala & Williston.

We strive for excellence in all that we do: unparalleled patient care, unmatched customer service, and an unwavering commitment to our core values.

We are leaders in our profession, and proud to have been named by Focus On Therapeutic Outcomes as a “Center of Excellence” and have been ranked as #1 top-ranked provider in the nation on six occasions.  

We are also Medicare-certified as an Outpatient Rehabilitation Agency, providing a comprehensive approach to patient evaluation and treatment. Our objective is to return our patients back to a productive life as quickly and safely as possible.

Joe Halter joined Strive in September 1998 after retiring from the military where he also served as a Physical Therapist. Joe currently lives in Ocala with his wife Mary. They have 3 adult children scattered across the US.

Joe’s clinical duties include working at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, HCA Florida West Marion Hospital, and providing Work Comp specialty testing. Additionally, Joe serves as Strive’s Compliance Officer and one of our frequently requested Community Educators.

Renee Tyre is a Florida native.  She has an extensive background in general accounting with a focus on medical accounting.  She currently resides in Ocala, FL.

Karen Jolley was born and raised in Ecuador. She moved to the USA in 2001 and to Ocala in 2005, where she started her family and career. She enjoys her home in the beautiful city of Ocala, where she resides with her husband. Her oldest daughter served in the Air Force. Her son is part of the workforce, and her youngest daughter is a graduate from USF.
