Although not yet common practice, the inclusion of a Physical Therapist as a member of the tracheostomy team, could be a game changer in the recovery process. Specifically, a PT plays a pivotal role in assisting patients to adjust to a “new normal” in the face of anatomical changes to the neck and windpipe.
